Honest comparison
SplitKin vs CaringBridge: Which is better for siblings?
CaringBridge is a 25-year-old nonprofit built for broadcasting a health journey to a wide circle, not for siblings privately coordinating care. If you want to update everyone at once without repeating yourself, CaringBridge is excellent and free. If you and your siblings want a private place to track who is doing and paying what, SplitKin is built for that.

Where SplitKin wins
- No expense tracking or settle-up between caregivers. Money is handled via GoFundMe or gift-card integrations, not between siblings.
- No AI extraction of tasks, decisions or expenses from conversation. Updates are posts you write yourself.
- No contributions view of who is carrying what. The product's model is one author broadcasting to a circle, not a shared ledger of effort.
- No private working thread for the caregiving sub-team. Posts and comments are the main surface.

Common questions
Is CaringBridge really free forever?
Yes. CaringBridge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by donations. There is no paid tier and no advertising. The only paid items are optional donations and "Tributes" to CaringBridge itself.
Can SplitKin replace CaringBridge, or do people use both?
They solve different problems. CaringBridge is a public-ish broadcast page for friends and relatives. SplitKin is a private, siblings-only working thread. Some families run both: a CaringBridge page for grandma's friends, and a SplitKin circle for the four adult siblings actually doing the coordination.
Does CaringBridge track expenses between siblings?
No. CaringBridge integrates with GoFundMe and gift-card services for people who want to send money to the family, but it has no expense ledger or settle-up between caregivers. SplitKin was built around that: AI extracts expenses from chat and shows what's owed.
What about privacy?
CaringBridge pages can be set to visitor-only, friends-and-family-approved, or public. SplitKin circles are private by default and visible only to the siblings in them. Neither service sells personal data per their published policies.
