Getting started

  • What is SplitKin?

A coordination platform for adult siblings sharing parent care. You chat the way you already do; AI extracts caregiving events, expenses, decisions, and tasks; a Contributions view shows who’s carrying what.

  • Who is it for?

Families of two to five adult siblings (typically aged 35 to 60) caring for an aging parent. Both local and long-distance siblings benefit; the contributions model is designed to surface non-physical work like financial and emotional support.

  • Do I need to install anything?

No. SplitKin runs in any modern browser. On iPhone you can add it to your home screen for a standalone-app feel and push notifications.

Pricing

  • How much does it cost?

$49.99 per year per family, or $4.99 per month if you prefer monthly. Annual saves about 17% (roughly 2 months free) vs. paying monthly.

  • Do all my siblings have to pay?

No. One subscription covers your whole family. Every sibling you invite gets full access for free under your paying account.

  • Is there a free trial?

Yes. 14 days free. We collect your card (or Apple ID) when you subscribe so the trial can roll into your subscription on day 14, but we don't charge a cent until then. Cancel anytime in the trial window and you walk away without paying.

  • Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription on the web (Stripe billing portal), or from iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS. If you cancel during the 14-day trial you're never charged.

Privacy and security

  • Does the AI see everything we say?

Claude (the AI) reads only the messages your family posts in your shared circle. The extractions are visible to circle members only. Nothing is sold or used to train models.

  • Where is my data stored?

On Supabase (Postgres) in the United States. Authentication uses magic-link sign-in via email. We don’t store passwords.

  • Is SplitKin HIPAA-compliant?

Not at this time. SplitKin is intentionally not for medical records, prescriptions, or any PHI (Protected Health Information). For shared care coordination only.

  • What if I want to delete everything?

From Settings → Profile → Delete account. Your profile, memberships, messages, and extractions are removed. Circle deletion is required if you’re the creator.

How the AI works

  • What does it extract?

Four things: events (something that already happened, like a doctor’s visit), expenses (money already paid), decisions (something the family agreed on), and tasks (a future action item someone commits to).

  • What if it gets something wrong?

Every event, expense, decision, and task has Edit and Delete buttons on its tab. Author can also delete a chat message within 30 minutes of posting, which removes its extractions too.

  • Will it log things I don’t want logged?

It only acts on what’s clearly stated. If a message has no caregiving content, nothing gets logged. You can always delete extractions you don’t want kept.

iPhone, Android, and notifications

  • How do I install on iPhone?

Two options. The native iOS app is in App Store review and lands any week now · we'll post the link here. In the meantime, open splitkin.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen and open from the new home-screen icon to run the standalone PWA.

  • Do I get push notifications?

Yes, once you turn them on in Settings → Notifications. Web push works on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, macOS Safari, and iPhone Safari (the iPhone path requires the home-screen install above).

  • Is there a native iOS app?

Yes · the iPhone app is in the final stages of App Store review. The web app works in any browser today (including the home-screen install above), and the native iOS app will land any week now with the same features plus native push.

Settling up money

  • Does SplitKin handle payments between siblings?

No. We track who paid what, then you settle up outside the app via Venmo, Zelle, cash, or whatever you already use. Log the settle-up in the Expenses tab and balances update.

  • Why not full payment processing?

Money transmission compliance is a different business. Keeping settle-up manual lets us focus on the coordination problem and keeps the product simple.
